If you haven't run into Agile yet, you will soon. Agile has become "the" way to develop software and is now making its way across many facets of organizations. Increasingly Agile is being turned to as a way for organizations to effectively manage changing priorities, increase a team's productivity and improve project visibility.
As OD practitioners its important for us to understand what Agile is (and isn't) and what Agile means from an OD perspective. What are some of the enablers of Agile and how might we leverage the concepts of Agile in our work?
Our guest speakers
Participating in the world of business and IT since 1996, I bring a blended mixture of leadership presence, business strategy, and advanced technical expertise to create highly efficient, agile, and lean technological organizations. My core focus is on how to facilitate transformational change for organizations, teams, and individuals. To this end, I’m able to leverage my multinational, multidisciplinary background in Enterprise-wide Change Consulting, Project Portfolio Management and IT operations, Identity Access Management (IAM), public and private enterprise, combined with my background in transformation business leadership and executive coaching.
I believe we are better together, and, a strongly allied and aligned relationship within the senior leadership is required for achieving breakthrough results. I have implemented numerous transformational changes and governance programs within the health, insurance, and financial industries; from small startups to multi-national corporations with a presence in over 90 countries.
With over 20+ years of Business/IT leadership, a background in Business and Computer Science and strong ties to the industry leaders, I’m able to leverage the best and brightest minds in business on a local, national, and international scale.
Scottish National Wrestling Champion at 8, Paratrooper at 19, Graphic Designer at 20, PrePress Production Manager at 23, Press Production Manager at 30, Integral Coach at 45, currently Leadership Coach at Shopify Toronto and loving it.
I've had the good fortune to have had a solid stint in diverse company cultures and sizes, a sound apprenticeship learning my craft as a designer, serving in the Parachute Regiment and seen what team really means, for a family run business to see how individuals can be left to their own gumption, a multinational that had to co-ordinate colour standards across the globe, and now Canada's biggest tech star that runs off trust, chaos and care to win their market and retain and attract top talent.
I have been inspired by Peter Senge, Robert Kegan and Ken Wilber since 2000, and dragged myself through the process of understanding what simplicity on the other side of complexity looks like. All I can say is that I am closer than I was. I value three things in my work: Love, Rigour and Joy. What I bring to the table are my Glaswegian ways of desiring things to be effective and efficient, without taking ourselves too seriously.
